Tampa Bay Bucs Field Trip – 8th Grade

Attention 8th Grade Families,

The process for payment has changed for the upcoming Bucs Career Day field trip.

• The cost of the trip is $30 (please have your student talk to me if this is a financial burden).
• Each student attending the field trip will receive a complimentary ticket to either the Bucs vs 49ers or the Bucs vs Panthers.
• You may purchase additional game tickets for one of those games for $50 each (your additional seats will be located with your student’s complimentary ticket seat).
• A student does not have to attend the complimentary game – please leave the Game Selection box on the form blank if this is the case.
• Check, money order, or credit card payment should be made to: Tampa Bay Buccaneers and noted on the forms.
• All forms (and checks if you are paying that way) are due by Sept 28th.
• Mrs. Mickler will collect all forms and payments (if checks) and send to the Bucs on Oct 2nd. They will process any credit card payments on or after the date they receive the forms from me.

Upcoming Field Trips

Just wanted to give families the heads up regarding some upcoming field trips so you can plan and save. All trips will take place during the school day.

PHSC – September 26th (approximately $5)

Florida Polytechnic – November 29th (approximately $20)

And for 8TH GRADE ONLY : 3rd Annual Bucs Career Day – October 23rd (approximately $30)

• This field trip will include a tour and lesson on the various careers associated with managing a professional sports team AND a single ticket to one of two Bucs home games (choice between 49ers or Panthers). Families can purchase additional game tickets for $50 each (upper level). That will allow the student to attend the game supervised!

 

Students will receive paperwork and permission forms closer to the trips. Please do not send money yet. This is just to inform you of what’s coming up!

 

Volunteer Opportunity

Want to help with Opening Day?

If you are looking to get all (or some) of your 3rd quarter volunteer hours done in one day, here’s your chance!

Dade City Little League has Opening Day on March 3rd from 8 AM until about 4 PM at Burks Park. They are looking for hard working volunteers to help them run the event.

Please let Mrs. Mickler know your name and what hours you plan to be there if you are interested.

❄️ Winter Wonderland Dance ❄️

We are breaking tradition a bit this year. Instead of our Family Holiday night, AVID is sponsoring a dance for all PMS students who wish to purchase a ticket.

We would welcome some parents as volunteers…decorations, ticket takers, snack table, chaperone, clean up crew…you get the idea! If you are able and willing to assist with this rather large undertaking, please email Mrs. Mickler! (You’ll also need to make sure you are approved as a volunteer through the district.)

Donations for Puerto Rico

One of our AVID students has taken the initiative to lead a school wide drive for victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Desired donations include: packs of batteries, canned goods, non-perishables, toiletries for men & women, diapers, baby wipes, and underwear/socks.

AVID students can get 1 hour of volunteer credit for every 2 items donated. Make sure your AVID teacher sees the donations and signs your volunteer log (filled in by you) before you turn the items into your 1st period teacher.

Volunteer Opportunity with PHS Football

The VP of the Booster Club at PHS has approached AVID with an opportunity for volunteer hours.  If you would like to earn hours and help at a  JV or Varsity football home game by selling programs in the stands, please let me know by texting me your name and the date(s) you will be available.  Below are the games of need:

JV home game: October 5^th:  6:30-8:30

Varsity Home Game: October 27^th:  6:30-8:30

Admission into the game will be free for volunteers.
